ExpoFP's Interactive Floor Plan Powers Seamless Navigation at IMEX America 2024

IMEX America 2024, the largest global event for the meetings and events industry, has set a new benchmark with more than 15,500 attendees. This milestone reflects growing optimism and a strong rebound in the business events sector. The tradeshow, held from October 8-10 at Mandalay Bay, brought together over 5,500 buyers.

As the interactive floor plan provider, ExpoFP played a crucial role in ensuring that attendees made the most of their time at the show. Our map streamlined their experience in several ways.

Wayfinding feature helps attendees to quickly find the booths and other areas they need. Attendees could effortlessly navigate the venue, find their way quickly and stay on course throughout the event. The map was also fully customized to reflect IMEX's branding guidelines, ensuring a consistent and cohesive look across all digital assets.

The event schedule was integrated directly into the floor plan, allowing attendees to easily access it. With a simple tap, they could see what was happening and receive instant directions to session locations, helping them stay on top of their schedule and minimize time spent navigating the venue.

To support neurodiverse attendees and those in need of a break, QR codes were strategically placed at restrooms. Scanning these codes opened a browser view with routes to the Neu Project Resilience Space, a dedicated lounge for relaxation. This feature was introduced for the first time at IMEX.

Blue dot wayfinding feature, powered by Crowd Connected, further enhanced the attendee experience by pinpointing real-time location and showing route to a desired one.

The map was shown on the touchscreen kiosks by CloudTouch that were placed in strategic locations. The interactive map proved to be a useful tool, receiving 96,654 views, 35,554 unique users, and 45,205 sessions, highlighting its importance for effective navigation.

Oliver Bailey, Head of Interaction Design at IMEX said, "Pre-scheduled meetings are a key component of IMEX events. As such, the ability for individuals to plan their time and navigate the halls easily is vital for the success of everyone involved. Since integrating ExpoFP with our show platform, we also now have the means to measure the use of navigation tools and have seen a significant rise in the number of business meetings made directly from the floor plan."

Ross Sudentas, CEO of ExpoFP, commented, "Our goal was to make navigation intuitive and stress-free. We wanted attendees to navigate the venue as easily as they use Google Maps to navigate the streets. Seeing so many people actually using our map and a record number of views proved that it was something important."
